INTRODUCTION
The Federal Ministry of Environment through the UNDP is implementing Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project in the Niger Delta on Biodiversity Project in four states in the Niger Delta. The project’s primary objective is to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of globally significant biological diversity in the Niger Delta.

This includes activities such as; land-use planning, resource use and traditional use rights mapping and recording exercises for local landscapes and waterscapes, and improving sustainable use and livelihoods linked to local biodiversity resources. The implementation process will enable local communities to participate actively in key decision-making processes thataffect biodiversity in their areas.

The project is hereby requesting for submission of proposals for the following activities to be implemented within 8 months from date of mobilization in the 4 states of the Niger Delta.

ACTIVITY 1: AKWA IBOM STATE
Sclater’s guenon Monkey 50 Hectares Conservation programme in Akwa Ibom State:
Lot 1.1: Community training for youth on sustainable conservation methods in agriculture and organic farming/agro-forestry and organize a one day promotional event conference and public seminar on the critically endangered species.
Lot 1.2: Map out Sclater’s 50 Hectares Habitat to ensure state law on preservation.

ACTIVITY 2: BAYELSA STATE
Niger Delta Red Colobus Conservation in Apoi Creek Forest Reserve
Lot 2.1: Enlightenment campaigns for communities within the Forest Reserve on the Red Colobus monkey.
Lot 2.2: Training of youths in the communities on protection and conservation of endangered specie.
Lot 2.3: Organize awareness and advocacy programme in 4 communities in Bayelsa for alternative sources of livelihood and effective community policing by women and youth population.
Lot 2.4: Establish mechanism for accessing micro-finance soft loans through farmers’ and Non Timber Forest Product harvesters and gatherers’ cooperative for alternative source of livelihood in Bayelsa

ACTIVITY 3: DELTA STATE
Conservation of endangered sacred totems
Lot 3.1: Advocacy, community education and sensitization programme by a local NGO on the needs to conserve and protect the sacred animal totems
Lot 3.2: Organize training in 3 communities in Delta State on breeding methods to protect and preserve endangered species.
Lot 3.3: Conservation of Endangered African Manatee in Uduophori community in Delta State through a Capacity building on alternative livelihood compatible with cultural milieu of manatee hunters

ACTIVITY 4: RIVERS STATE
Conservation activities of 50 hectares of Niger Delta Barrier island containing seriously endangered unique sub-species of Niger delta Elephant
Lot 4.1: Training of 3 communities in Andoni LGA on alternative means of livelihood to protect the forest.
Lot 4.2: Training of Forest Community Conservation personnel.
Lot 4.3: Document and sustain community by-laws protecting the conservation of seriously endangered unique elephants in Andoni.

Interested vendors are invited to kindly submit their proposals (Technical and Financials separately) via email to [email protected] indicating the Lot/Activity applying for both as email header and also on the first page of the proposal. All quotations should be on the company’s official letterhead and must be duly signed. Please ensure that quotations capture all requirements for selection such as Legal Status, Eligibility, conflict of interest and no history of non performing contracts.
